ROLE OVERVIEW

The Secondary Biology Teacher will collaborate within a faculty team to review, develop and deliver a curriculum consistent with the IB MYP/DP frameworks and the MYP/DP Science Subject Guides and will create and deliver units of inquiry relating to the various Science subjects. This position supports and implements the learning program in accordance with the guidelines and philosophy of NEOM EC-12 under the supervision and direction of the Programme Coordinator(s) and the Head of School. 

REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY

Teaching Experience

• Proven experience as a Science teacher, preferably within an IB MYP and DP framework, specializing in IBDP Biology

Scientific Knowledge

• In-depth understanding of various scientific disciplines, research methodologies, and practical applications.
• Ability to convey complex scientific ideas in an accessible manner.

Collaboration and Communication

• Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork.
• Experience working with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive science classroom environment.

Curriculum Development

• Expertise in curriculum development, preferably based on the IB MYP and DP frameworks.

Assessment and Reporting

• Proficient in developing and administering assessments; ability to report on student progress in science.

Professional Development and Adaptability

• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on scientific education trends.
• Adaptability to integrate new teaching methodologies and approaches.

• Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the MYP Science and DP Biology frameworks.

• Encourage hands-on experiments and application of scientific principles.

• Guide students in developing a deep understanding of scientific methodology.

Assessment and Feedback:

• Develop and administer assessments to gauge student understanding and progress in science.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students in enhancing their scientific skills.

Collaboration

• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and create a cohesive learning experience.
• Foster positive relationships with other DP and MYP teachers, contributing to cross-subject connections, particularly with subjects that complement science.

Professional Development

• Stay updated on scientific advancements, teaching methodologies, and curriculum developments.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

Parent and Community Engagement

• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and involvement in science-related activities.
• Collaborate with the community to enhance the science learning experience.

Other Duties

• Duty of care and supervision within the school campus.
• Offering of Extra Curricular Activities and support for Student Enrichment Experiences.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Experience teaching (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) is preferred
• Experience teaching Secondary General Science as well as Upper School Biology is mandatory

Qualifications

• Relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biological Science, or a related field.
• Relevant Professional Teaching Qualification.
