ROLE OVERVIEW

NEOM is seeking an experienced senior engineering manager to join the Alpine Design Team (ADT) to assist the Contractor in designing and constructing the ski slopes in Trojena. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level engineering professional looking to advance their career to the next level with a world-leading organization.

   

REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY

  • Experience in engineering design and project management.
  • Experience in the design and review of design deliverables for code and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in the design and installation of centralized chiller installations, compressed air systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Experience with a wide variety of building typologies.
  • Expert knowledge of local codes and standards requirements in the GCC region.
  • Expert knowledge of the latest American engineering codes and standards.

 

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES

The Senior Manager – Alpine Design Team (ADT) responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

 

Project Management

  • Support the ADT in reviewing and approving all recommended changes to Stage 3C designs for the ski slopes made by the appointed Contractor based on best practices and site conditions.
  • Support ETSD in reviewing and endorsing revised Stage 3D IFC designs incorporating approved changes by the ADT.
  • Support the ADT in approving minor changes to IFCs within agreed tolerances (the Contractor will use the revised 3D designs to prepare shop drawings for the ski slopes and snow-making equipment).
  • Support the ADT in approving Requests for Information (RFIs) to modify approved IFCs when site conditions require changes outside agreed tolerances.
  • Support the ADT in approving/rejecting changes to IFCs when they are a consequence of site constraints that are outside the agreed tolerances. If approved, the Contractor will update the shop drawings accordingly.
  • Identify any issues and/or concerns with engineering designs, plans, code compliance, etc., and work with relevant teams to address these in a timely manner.
  • Attend weekly project and divisional meetings to assist in managing the status of design and document reviews and agree actions for the week ahead.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with discipline leads and teams to ensure that all reviews are conducted efficiently and effectively and that any issues and/or concerns are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that all reviews are conducted smoothly, efficiently, and on time.
  • Coordinate and manage appropriate meetings with NEOM regions, sectors, and departments to align the requirements of stage/stakeholder/document reviews and deviation requests, and ensure they are documented correctly.

 

Change Management

  • Monitor and analyze local and international industry regulatory laws, trends and best practices to ensure that the company remains up-to-date and competitive in its engineering design review process.

 

Leadership

  • Produce technical reports and recommendations when required.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in engineering design and project management.
  • A strong track record of success in leading and managing engineering design reviews and/or design development.
  • Experience in the design and review of design deliverables for code and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with a wide variety of building typologies such as sporting/leisure, recreational, residential, hospitality, cultural, DCPs, substations, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of local codes and standards requirements in the GCC region.
  • Expert knowledge of the latest American engineering codes and standards.
  • Conversant with LEED and WELL sustainability design principles and requirements.
  • General knowledge of the latest innovative trends in engineering and technology.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of health and safety installation techniques, requirements for service and maintainability of equipment and plant, and requirements for safe and unrestricted ‘removal and replacement’ strategies for plant, equipment and associated MEP services.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience in the design and installation of centralized chiller installations, compressed air systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in English (required).
  • Proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
  • Highly collaborative, open mindset and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in writing and presenting reports.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders within and outside NEOM.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing teams, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or higher degree in engineering from an accredited university.
  • Membership of a professional association related to engineering, such as Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer, etc.
  • Membership of an engineering institute, e.g. ASHRAE, IMechE, IStructE, etc.
  • Membership of the Saudi Council of Engineers optional.
  • Continued career development, such as specialized training courses/programs in project management.
